Party Games

1. Ollyz Mystery Parcel Birthday Game

Supplies: Gift, box, wrapping paper and slips of paper.

Preparation: Wrap a small prize in some wrapping paper. Then wrap another piece of wrapping paper around that enclosing within it a 'slip of paper with a message on it'. Repeat this process for as many times as required. It is recommended that you have ten or more wrappings, but no more than twenty. Each slip of paper will contain a message on it. The messages can be actions, challenges or prizes.

Examples of actions: Sing a nursery rhyme, Hop on 1 foot 10 times, Blow up a balloon and sit on it, tell a funny joke, pretend to be an animal like a monkey.

Wrap a prize every 3-4 wraps, choose some lively music and you are ready to go!
Seat all the children around the room. An adult sits out and plays the music without watching where the parcel is. The parcel is passed around the room until the music stops. When the music stops the person holding the parcel has to take off the next layer of paper and complete what the message says. There is a prize every 3-4 wraps. Take note to ensure every child in the circle receives a prize.

2. Catch the Gadz Frogs Tail!

This game is best played to music. Get long strips and make them at least one yard long and have the kids put them in the back of their pants (or create little Velcro attachments), with the end just hitting the ground. When the music is playing they have to run around and try and catch the tail. They have to stand still when the music stops. You can also call some one out if they move when the music stops. This gives them all a moment to catch their breath before going again! A couple of rounds of this game should tire them out and the winner is the last tail standing!

3. The Ollyz Treasure Hunt

This is a great game to play. Each child is given a small basket in which to collect their treasures/lollies. They are divided into galactic team and each are given a mission written on a piece of paper: these can range from collecting nominated amounts of lollies to fuel the rocket ship, or to help land the module, or blast their way through the meteor shower. This encourages them to work on counting, working as a team and having a mission to complete. Hide the lollies in your garden or apartment and give them a set amount of time to complete the mission in. You can repeat this a few times to pass away the time! You can give each team a leader or captain of the ship to help with the theme.

4. Rockets Up!

Keep the balloon in the air the longest and win. Game is played best with two people at a time so that you can have a play off at the end. Each person bounces the balloon on his head to keep it in the air - no hands, feet or other objects to help. Winner is the one who keep sit up their the longest. Make sure your area is clear so that you don't trip over.

5. Musical Ollyz Chairs.

To play this fun game first arrange a row of alternate facing chairs - one for each kid. Then the kids sit on the chairs and music started. When the music begins they all stand up and walk in a line around the chairs, while one chair is taken away. When the music stops each kid has to sit down on a free chair and the one without a chair is ‘out’. This continues until there are 2 kids left in the game but only one chair. The one who manages to sit on the last chair when the music stops is the winner and receives a small prize – make sure you choose up- tempo music for them to move to!
